Captain George N. Kenyon, was a wealthy, eccentric hotelier and former sea captain with dreams of capitalizing on the iconic Gilbert Stuart Birthplace. John McGinnis was a well known a carpenter and laborer employed to make this dream a reality. The two men clashed over wages and violence ensued.
On that clear summer’s day in 1891 shots rang out at the Gilbert Stuart Birthplace. Was it murder or self-defense?
