Sara Seelenbrandt, Environmental Fashion Designer

Meet Sara Seelenbrandt, creator of the recent Wrapped in Nature fashion shows presented this Fall at the Spiral in Wilson Park. After leaving a highly successful career in the World of High Fashion, Sara has redirected her talents to helping people create greater appreciation for nature, and accomplishes this by designing nature inspired wearable clothing.

For Sara, working with nature is more intriguing than working with fabric because natural materials provide a life history of their own and guides her as she learns about the possibilities of stunning creations. ‘While calculations and planning are involved with fabric, play and experimentation drive the process with nature elements.

Her fashion shows guide “the soul back to the wild”, where her wearable,  botanical creations speak to the observers and come alive in their own way. Sara feels the natural materials bring forth stories of nature as they awaken and engage one’s senses to being more aware of our environment. Her goal in these creations is to encourage a greater understanding of and appreciation for the natural world.

Sara has enjoyed working with the Ecco Land Art Project and the NK Arts Council. Both of these organizations are advocates of her work and  believe in the power of art and nature to enhance living.
