Il Gigante: Michelangelo and the Statue of David  : April 8, 5:30 PM:

Michelangelo’s statue of the David has been described as the greatest sculpture of all time. Standing 17ft. 1in. in height, and weighing just over 5 tons, the sheer scale of the statue is breathtaking and led to it being nicknamed Il Gigante (The Giant) by Florentines. Join us for our next Artistically Speaking online event as art historian Dr. Rocky Ruggiero explores the history, iconography and importance of the sculpture that best defines the Renaissance and the brilliance of the artist who produced it.
