Although a Registered Nurse by profession, photography has become my passion. To me, nursing and photography are both nurturing and supportive. My nursing skills help to heal bodies and support the spirit, while my photography as it tries to capture the beauty of nature and the joyful wonders of life, supports the soul.
Taking photographs was always a hobby for me, but ten years ago, I decided to expand my knowledge and develop this passion further. I began taking classes, workshops and joining the following the organizations, Wickford Art Association, South County Art Association, Conanicut Island Art Association. I also joined a few smaller groups, like North Kingstown Photo Guild, South County Photo Artists, Photographer’s Connection, and New England Photography Collaborative. Through these organizations I met many wonderful and talented people who encouraged and inspired me.
I find inspiration and wonder in the beauty of the world I am surrounded by every day. The outdoors calls to me. Lighthouses, covered bridges, waterfalls, the ocean, and the light and shade that surrounds it, animals in their natural habitats…these are some of my favorite subjects of my photography. I am inspired by their tranquility, simplicity and by the ease with which they render such great beauty.
I look through my viewfinder and see God’s view; and it never fails to draw me in to capture it.
